Matthew Jones has a multi-faceted practice in providing land use and development counsel, corporate and commercial advice, and handling civil litigation. He has a wealth of experience in complex commercial transactions and also offers clients a successful track record in obtaining zoning and planning approvals, including SEQRA approvals, in the Saratoga region. He has secured municipal approvals for some of the largest projects in the area while serving as development counsel to significant clients such as GLOBALFOUNDRIES U. S. INC., Saratoga Hospital, The Saratoga Hotel, and New Country Motor Car Group.
Mr. Jones is also an accomplished trial lawyer. He has litigated contract actions and real estate matters in the Supreme Court of New York State, as well as argued civil cases before the Appellate Division, Third Department.
Mr. Jones a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Saratoga Springs Board of Education, a past president of the Saratoga County Bar Association, a past president of the Board of Directors of the Saratoga Regional YMCA, and a past president of the Saratoga Springs Lions Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a charter member and former vice-chairman of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority and a former vice-president of the New York State Bar Association. Mr. Jones has chaired numerous civic and volunteer groups in Saratoga Springs over the past 39 years. He remains active in Smart City Commission of Saratoga Springs, the Chamber of Commerce, the Saratoga Springs Lions Club and athletic recognition programs at Saratoga Springs High School. He is a native of Saratoga Springs and the Yaddo Medal recipient of the SSHS Class of ’72.

Bruce Steves, Partner

Since being admitted to the bar in 2012, Mr. Steves has successfully represented his clients in the areas of real estate and contract litigation, estate planning and administration and land use/development. He also provides guidance to start-up and established businesses on a variety of legal issues. Mr. Steves began his career with The Jones Firm in 2011 as a law clerk after graduating from Albany Law School as the Valedictorian of his class.
Mr. Steves is an active member of the Saratoga County Bar Association having served on its Board of Directors since 2015 and as Chairman of the Mock Trial Committee. Previously, he has served as a director of Saratoga Arts and as the project coordinator for NYSTLC (New York State Trial Lawyers Care), Inc., a not-for-profit corporation established to provide local victims of Hurricane Irene with much needed legal advice.

Gabrielle Aukscunas, Firm Administrator
Gabrielle is local to the area, born and raised in Burnt Hills, New York. Graduating from Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake High School in 2008, she started working for a mason/construction company, handling their finances and bookkeeping needs. After 10 years of experience with accounting she joined Jones Steves in January of 2018 as Firm Administrator. She handles the firm’s payroll, accounting and office management. She enjoys running, mountain biking and trying new food and local restaurants.
Kacey Casas, Paralegal
Kacey moved to Saratoga Springs after graduating Austin Community College in the summer of 2012. She is currently pursuing her Legal Studies degree from SUNY Canton where she has remained a Part Time Honor Student since enrolling. She joined the firm in April 2014 as a receptionist and now works as Matt’s Paralegal. Her favorite seasons are spring and summer when she can go hiking, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Marisa Clothier, Paralegal
Marisa is local to the area, born and raised in Luzerne, New York. Marisa graduated from Bryant & Stratton College with two associate’s degrees in Paralegal Studies and Criminal Justice. She joined Jones Steves in July 2017 and is a licensed New York State Notary. Marisa manages all Vehicle and Traffic matters for the firm. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family and pet rabbits.
Lauren Sheeley, Paralegal
Lauren moved to Saratoga Springs from Pine Bush, New York. She received her bachelor’s degree from The College of Saint Rose in 2004 and Paralegal Certificate, Summa Cum Laude, from Mildred Elley in 2012. Lauren has been with the firm since 2012 and is a licensed New York State Notary. Lauren manages real estate closings and estate planning matters for the firm. She enjoys running, baking and spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
